About Greensboro Citizens for Clean Elections

In December of 2007 a crowd of activists gathered to discuss the problems of money in Greensboro politics. We noted the long list of problems with our current system and decided it was time to fix it. We resolved to form a nonpartisan, grassroots effort to advance local public financing options. Greensboro Citizens for Clean Elections was born.

Right now, efforts are in the early stages. Interest in the project has multiplied substantially and we’re continuing to grow our grassroots support. We’re working on creating awareness of Greensboro Citizens for Clean Elections, educating citizens on public financing, meeting with City Councilors to see where they stand on the issue, and talking with local media.

Greensboro Citizens for Clean Elections is a nonpartisan, grassroots group. We receive assistance and direction from Common Cause North Carolina, an nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working for a more honest, open, and accountable government. Common Cause North Carolina is based in Raleigh and is working to advance local public financing options throughout the state.

We encourage you to browse through our website and learn more about the role of money in Greensboro politics, our efforts, and how to get involved.
