Goals and Progress
Goals:
- Establish a diverse, bi-partisan group of citizens to advocate for clean election alternatives to the current special interest dominated system
- Educate Greensboro citizens on the connections between money and politics and the benefits of public financing
- Have the Greensboro City Council pass a nonbinding resolution in support of local public financing options for Greensboro
- Pass enabling legislation through the NC General Assembly
Progress:
- Held several general public meetings, which have attracted a wide variety of citizens
- Met with City Council members to educate them on public financing and see where they stand on the issue
- Raised our profile: were the focus of an opinion piece and a front page article in the News & Record, made an appearance on radio talk, and held a successful press conference
